I want to convert a toyota sedan to electric with a small onboard propane engine for recharging. How?

I know there are kits for these things, has anyone combined them this way before: Electric Conversion kit + small engine + propane conversion kit. What are the primary considerations, Engine size (both electric, and internal combustion engine) ideal configurations etc, Online resources would be nice too.

You can do that and there are several companies selling all the parts you need to do it, but it won’t get you what you want.

You’d be better off to just have the propane generator in your garage to recharge at night, but once you do that you might as well recharge it from the wall socket and install solar panels on your houses roof.

To carry the engine around in the car is just adding weight and not getting much in return. A “small” generator will not recharge the batteries enough to make a big difference to the range and a “big” generator will weigh so much that your electric car is really just a self-propelled generator. It will be slow and the range will actually be reduced by adding unnecessary weight.
